This is probably going to come as a surprise to the FW political world, but I was encouraged to get into the race for Council by a top political aide of Mayor Jim Ferrell late last year. The name is confidential at this time, as he seemed disinclined to be very public about this, although I was not held to confidentiality.
I decided to let this news see sunshine, especially after reading Bob Roegner's speculation, e.g., his May 8th Mirror column, in which he wrote that the mayor might endorse Anthony Murrietta for Position 1; which is pretty unlikely considering this news, which has been known, in confidence, by me for months. I have no idea what the mayor's plans are, if any, in regards to an open endorsement regarding Position 1, but of course I would like that kind of recognition.
-- Mark Greene, candidate for Federal Way City Council (Position 1)
Update (12:15 P.M., 6/4/15): This blog post is the "ace in the hole," which I decided to play early, with Murrietta having almost $7,000.00 in campaign funds and his campaign signs starting to spring up in FW. This campaign decided to shake up the race with this announcement, as it needs to place first or second in the Aug. 4 Primary.
