Moore and Koppang

On Twitter the other day, I wrote this about Moore and Koppang voting for Lydia Assefa-Dawson for Deputy Mayor.  So of those 3 options, I am discerning that crass politics was the primary objective in their voting, though not dismissing that it could be a combination of all three, or 2 of 3 (Twitter post).  My hunch is that those two already knew that Councilwoman Susan Honda had the votes for Deputy Mayor, if in fact that was the case.  Somehow, Moore and Koppang thought that a kind of faux backing of Assefa-Dawson for next-in-line to the mayor's job advances their external  political careers (beyond City Council), even though that strategy is really a stretch; putting it nicely.  I wouldn't put it pass either one of those two, or both, to get in the state representative sweepstakes, as they're just biding their time for what each of them thinks is the right time to announce.

I might even support Koppang if he does the smart thing and gets in the race against Pellicciotti instead of Reeves (emphasis on the word "might"), but if he gets in the race for Position 2, that vote for Assefa-Dawson will come back to haunt him.  There is no way that Moore and Koppang would run in the same contest, as they'll either run in separate representative positions or one of them will sit it out.  If the former, I'm going to have to beat one or the other to advance in the primary, which will take my focus off of Reeves, somewhat; until after the primary.
