Jared Scouten: remember him? The erstwhile Republican candidate for Mayor of Federal Way who filed with the Public Disclosure Commission, but never officially filed his candidacy with Elections. Why do I get the feeling that there would have been a Federal Way mayoral primary regardless of whether I had run or not. Who put Scouten up to potentially running for mayor? Although, after I filed for election the day before the deadline, Scouten's services were no longer needed, apparently. Honda didn't want a primary, so I'm pretty well convinced her supporters had nothing to do with this. That leaves Ferrell's supporters -- not necessarily the official Ferrell campaign -- who may have thrown any name onto the ballot to ensure that there was a primary. This is the same kind of thing that happened to me in Michigan in 1976 (the incumbent's, Morris Hood's, camp or supporters likely decided to split the anti-incumbent vote, then, by throwing a non-campaigning third candidate onto the ballot). It's all just speculation, however, as of course I have no way of knowing anything, but Ferrell's supporters in cahoots with a Republican, wouldn't that be shocking. 😏
