Because of the uncertainty as to whether Mark Greene's mayoral campaign will be on the ballot or "a write-in," the Greene campaign has decided to wait until May 19 to make an official announcement for mayor of Federal Way. April 25, 2017
Reading the same speech in two different Federal Way City Council meetings, mayoral candidate Mark Greene made two strong speeches at both the special and regular meetings (Greene was not aware of the special meeting until he arrived, so he read his speech there as well as the succeeding regular meeting).
Mark's delivery of speeches is firm and clear, and since he had the unexpected opportunity to read the same speech twice, he tried different delivery methods. The second speech, somewhat boisterous, to underscore Mark's uncompromising America-centric, patriotic fervor. The speeches were about making sure that we, as a nation, uphold our defining character, including our patriotic symbols, and that the city not be so heavily involved with an internationalist-inclined organization, namely the Chamber of Commerce. Mark also told the audiences that he was sad that the City Council reversed their earlier decision to have a new, more patriotic city logo, as Mark was very impressed with that logo. It will be back if Mark is elected mayor. April 19, 2017

Update, April 21, 2017 (campaign news): The Greene campaign is getting ready to prepare five thousand hand-out cards for the Federal Way mayoral campaign, but is waiting until the 19th of May to make that order, in order to see if this will be a "ballot" or a "write-in" candidacy. The cards may have to explain a write-in campaign that would be for the November ballot, not the primary (election rules do not allow non-qualifying primary candidates to be acknowledged as candidates in the general election for the same position, nor allowed to win that position regardless of the vote). As a former candidate for Director of Elections, Mark Greene understands election rules very well, and knows that he does not have to officially file as a write-in candidate in order to win a write-in campaign, as the Department of Elections charges the same amount of money for a write-in candidacy as any other. Therefore, Mark would not officially file as a write-in candidate since he wouldn't have to if there was enough money for that, but would simply try to win a write-in vote if it comes to that. An unofficial write-in candidate can win an office, as long as it is reasonably clear that he or she is the candidate whose name is written-in and tallied the plurality of votes. Mark would make it clear on an amended candidate registration form, that his is a write-in candidacy, and for the November election only.
One silver lining to a write-in candidacy, if it comes to that, is that Mark could conceivably win the General Election in a 3-way race with as little as 34% of the vote. April 21, 2017
