City & Private Co-Ownership Makes Sense For
The Performing Arts Center

Usually, the Revived Citizens Party would be the last organization on Earth to promote privatization of government-owned resources, as usually these ideas or actions are scams by "bought-off" politicians to give corporations a huge financial incentive to take over and take advantage of government-run entities or programs at the expense of the public-at-large, as the gains in these transactions are usually & overwhelmingly all one way -- to the corporation -- while the general commons that serves everybody is diminished in some way, if not altogether devastated.  However, there are exceptions to this general rule, and the boondoggle called, in shorthand, the Performing Arts Center, that the Jim Ferrell mayoralty has foisted on Federal Way, should be one of the exceptions to the aforementioned anti-privatization rule, as the proposal that I am making is at least not total privatization, but a counterbalance to the "fait accompli" that will be on the table regardless of the outcome of next year's mayoral election.

Under the present plans or Ferrell's tenure, you can be sure that ordinary working-class citizens of Federal Way, which are the majority of people, here, will not be able to afford attending shows at what is looking to be a pretty much exclusive, upper class/high-priced Center, and if your family income is less than six figures, don't even dream about attending shows or events there, that are very likely to cater to powerful Big Business people and elites.  In other words, this Center is not for the Common Man, but really aims to siphon off some of the metropolitan area's high, mighty, and rich, including tech elites, from their usual Seattle & N.E. King County environs.  Meanwhile, the People of Federal Way must foot the bill, in perpetuity, for this luxurious play toy of the Ferrell mayoralty and his Big Business cronies.

Nevertheless, All-American relief is coming under a would-be Greene mayoralty, and if elected, with Council cooperation, I will find a private partner to share the huge and on-going expense and management of this boondoggle that could, after all, be turned into something worthwhile and affordable for common citizens through a private & city government co-ownership arrangement, a business arrangement not unlike many throughout the U.S. that has kept something useful and productive for common citizens without bankrupting cities or municipalities.
