The October 4th Federal Way Council Meeting was held so late that the Council could not finish its agenda, the meeting threatened to go well into midnight hours (if the remaining items of the agenda had been started), and ended about 10:30 P.M. Starting Council Meetings so late in the day, 7:00 P.M., is a little archaic since the public could watch it on TV if some of the public can't get off of work in time to attend an earlier session; middle to late evening times are no easier to be in attendance as well, but meetings don't have to be one size fits all anyway, since meetings could be held on different days and different times.
My suggestion would be to hold Council Meetings on Mondays or Tuesdays at 3:00 P.M., and to hold one Saturday meeting per season at 1 P.M. (one each in spring, summer, fall and winter in place of the usual preceding or following Monday or Tuesday meeting), so that those who could not attend a regular weekday meeting would have a chance to attend on the weekend.
Mayor Ferrell has started a mayoral speaking segment on "Pharoah TV," believe it or not (FW Politics is now using this new moniker for the Federal Way cable network), as if the mayor already doesn't get enough time on the city's cable network. More about this brazenness in coopting the public's broadcast in a later post.
