As if our planet did not have enough problems, the Washington Legislature, other legislatures in the United States, the White House & Congress (of course), and feckless politicians in countries all over the world are rubbing their hands in glee as plans for more nuclear energy plants are on the increase. The lull after Three Mile Island is over, thanks to the laxness of the feckless Obama Rule, which has been one of the worst governments in U.S. history for the environment (maybe, the worst, period). This is bad news for people who want high environmental standards for their towns, nations and continents, and renewable, safe energy, not nuclear, because no matter how good the safeguards are for nuclear energy, and they haven't been great so far, radioactive waste cannot be contained safely anywhere, and its release into the natural environment, by accident or otherwise, as expectantly as a sunrise, will continue to cause havoc and threats to humanity and life on the planet generally.
At some point, societies must conclude that just because something that gives a fleeting sustenance can be conceived and made, doesn't necessarily mean that it should be, especially if the risks are so great that it threatens the natural environment in a way that could be catastrophic. We have already been given warning signs through Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima, how many more signals do we need to stop this technology in its tracks, and the sooner the better? Experts in several different fields that know something about physics, nuclear energy and the environment, are already concerned that the damage from Fukushima will continue to despoil the Pacific Ocean, and that can only bring more concerns about oceanic habitat, and what that means for the environment in general, especially for Pacific islands and coastal areas.
Regarding the Lieutenant Governor's race in Washington, I would be the only candidate, if I decide to run, that would speak out against the expansion of nuclear energy in Washington, and no renewals. You won't hear Moeller, Hobbs, Habib, Fraser, McClendon and Yin speak about the importance of stopping the expansion of nuclear energy, nor will you hear anything from the Libertarian candidate whose party apparently stands for just about anything goes, even if a few can negatively affect many. Help me stop the expansion of nuclear energy plants by supporting my party, the Revived Citizens Party, and my exploratory candidacy for Lieutenant Governor.
