In Bob Roegner's latest column, "Nostradamus" predicted that either the other Mark or Julie would be our newest councilmember, but actually, technically speaking, since the Position 1 election is for the short (essentially the last month of Jim Ferrell's stunted Council term, because he was elected mayor in 2013) and full term, it could be me in the Position 1 chair in post-Thanksgiving November or December, which would be prior to which ever one of the Position 5 candidates take office in January, 2016.
Roegner's article (at least he wasn't terrible, today) was about the political maneuvering that will take place for the internal election among councilmembers for Deputy Mayor, and implied that in the unlikely event that I was elected, my vote would be a mystery. Well, I'm going to end the mystery right now, I would vote for Kelly Maloney, and barring her election if 4 votes could not be brought to bear, I would align with Maloney to vote for whoever, and her advice would be significant. I am so impressed with Maloney for meeting with me after the controversial July 8th Candidate Forum (the only city official to do so after the event), and the fact that I like her overall political astuteness, and philosophy that appears be in accord with mine, I can hardly think of anybody else who should be Deputy Mayor.
