At yesterday's candidate forum, which is exactly what it was, not as much a free-flowing debate because of the stance of the moderator, and apparently the forum rules, I complimented Mayor Jim Ferrell for his efforts in bringing businesses into Federal Way, thereby implying that he was doing a good job in revitalizing downtown, but the mayor went out of his way to disassociate himself from me by questioning my arising into the Council race because of the actions of his political camp. However, this questioning by the mayor, and sarcastically by a man in the audience, doesn't wear well, because I have proof of it all through e-mails from last autumn and winter. One of the things that I take from that kind of stiff-arming by the mayor is that he isn't particularly keen on getting involved in the Position 1 race any further, if he ever did. I don't know; after all this, I'm assuming Ferrell, himself, had nothing to do with getting me into the Council race, and nothing that I have ever stated said that he had; I had always emphasized political camp or aide, or something to that effect.
Another man in the audience, if not the same one aforementioned, said that I was saying something against unions: Not true: all I said or implied was that a particular union was trying to gain influence on the Council by taking it over position by position, and I also said that I support rank-and-file union workers, but distinguished them from union bosses. So you can see how some people like to distort things and hear things that they really don't hear, because after all that helps with tarnishing a candidate that they, in particular, don't want to see elected.
More about the candidate forum, tomorrow, on Council Run.
