The Cascade Bicycle Club contacted me recently and thought I would fall for their "Lucy With the Football" routine by having me spend a couple of hours of my time answering their questions, and then, like in the past, more than likely giving me another "Where did you come from" non-reply, let alone an endorsement that might help my campaign with a handful of extra votes (the last time, they neither endorsed me or my opponent who probably didn't even respond to them), but after they kept querying me as to why I didn't show up to "kick the football," I finally answered back and said, in so many words, that "Charlie Brown" has wised up this year and he's not going for the "Lucy With the Football" trick this time.
I'll just take my chances and hope that those handful of extra votes won't affect my being in the Top 2 come the 4th day of August, and besides, those couple of extra hours spent with actually meeting potential voters out on the hustings rather than prostrating before the Cascade Bicycle Club will probably more than make up for those few extra votes. By the way, club members -- those that aren't in the hierarchy, and other bicyclists -- may want to note that I am very good with bicyclists' issues and concerns, as I made that very clear, with a fair amount of preciseness and time involved, some years ago, before the football was pulled out from under me.
