Democrat Was Hardly Concerned About Her Party Controlling Wash. Senate

REVISED:  Just took a glance at one of my opponent's, Lydia Assefa-Dawson's, C-1 report, as filed with the Public Disclosure Commission.  Though, she wasn't suppose to fill out the political party section since Council elections are non-partisan, "Democrat" was listed anyway.  Real Democrats, generally, might want to assess whether Assefa-Dawson is a true blue Democrat since she endorsed a Republican (Miloscia) in last year's 30th District State Senate election.

The election involving Shari Song (D) and Mark Miloscia (R) was considered very important to Democrats across the state, not just another election, because it all but determined which party, Democrats or Republicans, would control the State Senate, and it turned out that with the help of Assefa-Dawson's endorsement and Miloscia's eventual triumph, that Republicans gained outright control of the Washington State Senate in 2015, not just the de facto control that they had in the last two years.

Generally speaking, a lot of these cross-party endorsements, individual back-and-forth posturing between parties, and party switches are nothing more than crass politics, which pretty much tells you all that you need to know about how loyal some politicians are to their party credo or party's electoral success, as long as it's not their own particular seat at risk.  It's also called gimmickry, to put it in a single word.
