REVISED: My first official opponent, Anthony Murrietta, filed with the Public Disclosure Commission, recently, filing for position #1 as I have. Murrietta ran in '13, came in 3rd to Kelly Maloney and Mark Koppang in the Top 2 Primary, and then endorsed Maloney (over Mark Koppang) for the position, which she ultimately won.
Interestingly, Murrietta, despite obviously not being too enthusiastic about Koppang (endorsing Koppang's opponent in 2013 as stated above), decided not to get in the "open" seat that Koppang filed for, as Murrietta has decided to try his luck against me and Appointed Member of the Council, Lydia Assefa-Dawson. I filed for position 1 before realizing there would be a so-called open seat through position 5, Koppang's chosen position number (Councilman Celski announced his intention not to go for another term about a month after I filed). In other words, a seat an incumbent is not contesting.
As far as is known by Council (this blog), Ms. Assefa-Dawson hasn't declared for election as of yet, but one of the F.W. Mirror's columnists says "count on it."
