2nd Feedback From the People

Before I write about "feedback," just a few words about my general Council campaign.  As of this last day of February, it looks more certain than ever that this is the office that I'm going for (99.9% chance), so the exploratory campaigns for Director of Elections and the State Representative Special Election in the 30th District are very probably not going to be entered into by me.  Regarding the Council campaign, I have started early and often in campaigning, and February looks a little like a July (pre-primary) or October (pre-general election) campaign, but surprisingly I haven't gotten any questions or comments about being real early.  About 65% of the people who I have encountered so far, and are eligible to vote in F.W. elections, have been at least fairly positive about my campaign.  I started early, because you just know that the appointed incumbent, or perhaps others that will have access to deep pockets, will get in the race.  Grassroots (my campaign) versus Establishment/Money has little choice but to get a head start, because that will be one of the few advantages that I have.

Feedback 2: issues brought up since the previous feedback (also, see statement following these points).

  • One man said that F.W. needs more sidewalks and general improvements that would improve safety and convenience for pedestrians.
  • More provisions and shelter for the homeless, and help for the hungry in the way of food stocks, came up, respectively, as concerns by two or three people.
  • A woman said that traffic flow in F.W. is becoming more of a problem.

Campaign website:  A For Federal Way Citizens Campaign

One of the most important jobs of a politician is to listen to what their constituents, or the people that may elect them to office, are saying, and listening, generally, instead of pontificating on their own ideas and polishing up their speeches.  So I have been listening.  Keep in mind that these points are coming directly from the people of Federal Way, and that I may or may not agree with particular points, here, but I do realize that if I'm elected to the Council, my job is to represent what the majority of the people want, and sometimes to persuade and vote from my own point of view if there is a fairly close divide amongst the people.  My apology if I didn't list something that you told me, but Feedback from the People is going basically by recollection right now as I didn't write down anything, though hoping to be more comprehensive as time goes by.
