No Morality Police: I decided to put the "Morality Matters" essay on a Revived Citizens Party blog page where people can link to it from this post. I'll admit that I was concerned, here in Federal Way and the 30th Legislative District, that my views might be distorted as Miloscianesque even though there are big differences between me and that Mark when it comes to the subject of ethics and morality from a governmental standpoint. On the whole, I don't believe the government should become intrusive in venial moral matters that are basically personal liberty matters that don't really or actually intrude on others. That's another way of saying that the government shouldn't be a morality police when it comes to victimless though different or unconventional lifestyles as long as it doesn't really affect others. "Victimless," however, can be a debatable word, and there does have to be a certain though reasonable amount of community standards on particular matters that may affect everybody, so I don't hold extreme views on either end of the spectrum. Liberty and ethics can coexist, after all. That should go without saying.
