Assefa-Dawson's Curious Endorsements

Update (Oct. 11, 2015):  Assefa-Dawson Endorses Republican, Teri Hickel

As one of probably few candidates for local offices in Washington this year who doesn't associate with or belong to a major party, as I am with the Revived Citizens Party, I do not have a written-in-stone position, yet, as to who should be the other State Representative in the 30th District among our only 2 choices, Carol Gregory or Teri Hickel.  I'll make a firm, final decision on that after I see a debate or two.  [Update (10/11/15): After seeing Gregory and Hickel debate at the Federal Way Chamber of Commerce Oct. 7th forum, I will be voting for Carol Gregory].  I am curious as to why some, if not the majority, of Gregory supporters & Democrats would also support Lydia Assefa-Dawson to be elected to Council (Assefa-Dawson has endorsed Teri Hickel, Gregory's Republican opponent).  Assefa-Dawson, a proclaimed Democrat, has undermined the Democrats in the Statehouse for the last year or so, as she has endorsed different Republicans for each of the Legislative bodies in successive election years.  The Republican she earlier endorsed for the Statehouse, regarding this year's special election, dropped out early, but that doesn't take away from Assefa-Dawson's intent to have someone not of her own party win that seat, thereby jeopardizing her party's chances of maintaining a majority in the only chamber they still control, namely, the State House of Representatives.

Of course, as some know, through the other endorsement, Assefa-Dawson helped the Republicans gain outright control of the State Senate, where before they only had minimal or de facto control.  Assefa-Dawson actions as a Democrat are befuddling, to say the least, because a party controlling a chamber is how that party determines leadership and controls the chairmanship of every one of the committees.  Not that a member of the Citizens Party cares that greatly which of the duopoly parties is in charge of what chamber in Olympia, but the strange party associations involved are very interesting.
