As If They're Going To Vote Out the Dean of the House All of a Sudden

It's amazing how much attention the national press gives to Democratic nominees for the U.S. House of Representatives from Alaska, lately, as opposed to, oh, say, 2000 and 2002.  Now, they even get a mention in the New York Times, pray tell.  Back when I was the Democratic nominee for two straight election cycles, a feat that only a handful of Alaskan Democrats have managed in history (I believe the number's five, including myself and a couple of incumbent congressmen from early Alaskan state history), I didn't even rate a photograph .... ever .... in Alaska's biggest newspaper, which will be unnamed here (but was treated respectfully by the Ketchikan Daily News and the Juneau Empire), let alone any write-ups outside Alaska.  Yet, the tacky, sometimes fake news national press and Anchorage newspaper suddenly get warmed up a decade-or-so later about people who have no more of a chance of defeating Don Young (the current Dean of the U.S. House of Representatives; he wasn't until months ago) than I did.   Amazin'.
