Stokesbary For Speaker of the House

One of the side benefits of voting for Mark Greene for state representative in the 30th Legislative District is getting our state that that much closer to getting rid of Frank Chopp as Speaker of the House, if not in fact doing exactly that.  Chopp is one of the most sleaziest Speakers of the House in Washington history, and we would say most sleaziest ever, but we still have some catching up to do in reading Washington history (Chopp being the most sleaziest is a very good bet, however).  A few years ago, because Ms. Sawant, now of Seattle Council fame, had the audacity to run against Chopp as a write-in candidate, Chopp and his allies took it upon themselves to change election rules to make it harder for people to run against them, especially run against Chopp (probably a Chopp prerogative).  Even though we're hardly fans of Sawant, the reaction to her write-in candidacy was more fitting of a "banana republic" than the Washington Legislature.

Just speculating, here, so this is not a proven fact, but a lot of seemingly fake candidates file for office to ward off real candidacies to challenge Chopp, but a little later on, mysteriously withdraw their candidacies (a candidate this year withdrew for Chopp's seat, and we think this has happened in past years for Chopp's seat).  Besides election shenanigans, no telling what kind of sleazy tactics that Chopp uses legislatively, but they probably run the gamut.  The Democrats, apparently, have no problem with Chopp-like "ethics."

This is one of the most important reasons why we need Republican control of the Washington House of Representatives, and the House minority leader, Drew Stokesbary, to become Speaker.  More importantly, Stokebary's politics of prudent financial business, including budget thriftiness and low taxes, and making education a priority, is more reflective of the will of Washingtonians than the Democrats' careless spending ideas, high taxes to pay for them, and radical leftist politics.

Stokesbary for Speaker, at the start of the next regular session, with your vote for G.O.P. candidates this year.  Thank you.
