Clarification: Mirror Publication

CLARIFICATION

A blog is like a book to a certain degree, so sometimes you have to read the preceding chapters to know what's going on before you jump to the middle of the book.  That's why most people knew that the beginning of the following short essay, published a few days ago, was speculative, and not based on pure fact.  The Mirror newspaper has competing sides, with one side being responsible, objective journalists, and the other side trying to copy the playbook of the high profile, partisan cable news networks.  In other words, picking a political side and joining it; this is called journo-activism, which is not journalism in the classic sense, of course.  Right now, the journo-activists have the upper hand at the Mirror, but the responsible journalists do happen to score a few points every now and then, but that's about all they'll get, given the publisher's enormous veto power.

ESSAY

The Federal Way Mirror published a condensed portion of my press release, yesterday.  The editor-checked version appeared in the regular news section, but a publisher-checked (Hobbs) preamble appeared on their Facebook site, where a kind of unflattering adjective noun combo was used in the initial sentence of the preamble.   This is part and parcel of "Mr. Anonymous's" opposition to some of my positions, particularly my "apartments" position, which is sympathetic to apartments being one of the main ways to provide housing for people in the 30th Legislative District (however, Federal Way's size should remain pretty much the same for the foreseeable future through our growth management policies).  Despite the Facebook preamble; on the whole, it's great to receive this recognition for my campaign from Federal Way's only newspaper, and the biggest newspaper in the 30th Legislative District.
