Unholy Alliance: the Mirror tabloid & the Municipal League of King County

When I was in high school in the rural Midwest (Mom moved us out of Detroit when I was age 11), the teachers, librarians, and other kids were amazed that I spent my lunch recess hour reading about civics or current events -- after finishing eating -- in the school library practically every single time for every single H.S. year.  At home, I poured over encyclopedias, almanacs, newspapers and news magazines for my fun when I wasn't playing sports outside.  I studied government and civics on my own very often, not always from classroom assignments.  As I often like to say, I have been studying government since the days of the Eisenhower administration (paying attention to the Nixon - Kennedy debates at the time), though studying a lot more classically during the Johnson and Nixon eras, and ever since then; so it came as a shock to me when the Municipal League of King County said that I wasn't qualified to be a councilperson.  Honestly, that decision last year was ridiculous, and naturally, for the non-journalist that he is, "Rogue-ner" ran with it like a rogue that came across a bag of neatly wrapped, freshly minted hundred-dollar bills that wasn't his, along side his other nastiness. 

As I have previously related, when I went to the Municipal League's interview last year, they sent me to the wrong address, and I had to literally run -- after I learned, at the last minute, that the correct address was about 3 miles away -- to keep from being very late as opposed to the only 5 minutes-or-so late that it turned out to be.  I was slightly disoriented from all the huffing and puffing I did in trying to get there on time, but hardly deserved the Muny League's put down. 

One thing the Mirror will never tell you, but which I will make sure is publicized in the voters' pamphlet for next year's mayoral race, this same Municipal League actually rated me as qualified for the King County Council in 2009 (District 9, because I lived in Newcastle, WA at the time), which just goes to show you the incongruity and haphazardness of an organization that says I'm qualified for the King County Council, but not for the Federal Way City Council.  I made a big mistake for not publicizing that fact widely in last year's city council race.  After all, most politicians around the country would say that county councils are a rung above city councils in their own county, as you would think, since the county would be a larger area and have more responsibilities. 

Of course, I won't be going to another Municipal League interview, ever, but I will be showcasing that '09 qualified rating for the King County Council in my own literature and, as aforementioned, in the voters' pamphlet.  To my supporters in last year's council race: sorry, that I did not counteract my Establishment opponents as smartly as I should have, as these opponents are politically powerful and determined to keep the people's candidates out of office, but we learn from our mistakes, at least we had better if we ever hope to win.

Post-script: By the way, this league mysteriously did not publish the completed questionnaire that I returned to them, though here it is, basically, with the answers completely the same, but the questions turned into subtitles.

The sleazy, crass Municipal League of King County -- putting it in "nice" terms -- has so far not asked me to participate in their "Rube Goldberg malarkey" this year.  Usually, around this time of year or sooner, I would get an invitation from them when I'm running for local office.   Naturally, after the way I was treated by them in 2015, I am hoping to get the opportunity to either ignore them or tell them "Hell no."   But to give the devil his due, that organization did summon up just enough honesty to qualify me for the King County Council in 2009.  Dated 5/3/17

THE HIDDEN FACT: THE MUNY LEAGUE RATED ME AS QUALIFIED FOR A HIGHER OFFICE IN '09.

Regarding the less than ethical Municipal League of King County: this organization, that went 180 degrees the opposite from 2009 to 2015, rated Mark Greene qualified for the King County Council in 2009; a council that's responsible for the government of one of America's largest counties.
